WHO WE ARE

WHAT WE DO
HOW WE DO IT

LETTER FROM EDDY AND JEANNIE JOSEPH

In deciding what to focus on, we stepped back and took a look at the bigger picture. We analyzed technology, systems, cultures and interconnections. Strong patterns became clear; extreme poverty and poor health are connected to failures of educational systems. Education and conservation became our focus. We concentrate on needs that would not be met without our efforts. We pay attention to our home community as well as the broader view.

Our work is challenging but we know we can get there. The coordination and focus of many – leaders, governments, communities and individuals around the world - can help remove barriers that prevent people from making the most of their lives.

We expect to make some mistakes; nothing important gets accomplished if we make only “safe” decisions. An essential role of philanthropy is to take risks on promising solutions that governments and businesses can’t afford to make. Learning from mistakes, consistently refining approaches and sharing the results so everyone can benefit are the rewards of thoughtful funding choices.

We believe that everyone should have the opportunities and resources to push themselves toward their personal best. We are striving for the best, creating value and innovating for a better world.
